Washington Area Fuel Fund
Our signature philanthropic program is the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF).
An unforeseen financial crisis brought on by an accident, medical problem or loss of income can cause a family to face a winter without heat. It might be a family with children or a senior citizen who must choose between food and warmth.
When all other government assistance has run out, or simply is not available, WAFF is the last safety net. WAFF has paid for all types of fuel to heat the homes of families in need since 1983.
In its history, WAFF has raised more than $20.3 million and has helped more than 240,000 residents. On average during the past five years, the fund disbursed approximately $870,000 annually.
