Marcellous Frye

Marcellous Frye Vice President - Support Services, Washington Gas

Marcellous Frye Jr. is Vice President of Support Services for Washington Gas. Mr. Frye is responsible for establishing business strategy and the management of Customer Service, Information Technology Services, Procurement, Strategic Facilities Planning, and Business Process Outsourcing.

He joined Washington Gas in 2005 as a Director of Application Development and was later promoted to Division Head of Information Technology. The Board elected Mr. Frye to Vice President of Support Services in March 2008.

Mr. Frye is trained as a Master Black Belt in Six Sigma, a process-based methodology focused on process optimization. He leverages this training along with his technological background to drive out process inefficiencies within key operations at Washington Gas. He is also the co-author of a patent for the Provisioning of Electronic Commerce and is a past recipient of the prestigious GE Lewis Latimer award for innovation, creativity, and leadership. He is a member of the Executive Network program for the Greater Washington Board of Trade, LEAD Virginia, and a member of the Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF).

His career began with General Electric where he was selected to participate in the Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP). Upon graduation from the program he quickly rose to the management leading large-scale initiatives within Information Technology, Engineering, and Marketing. He also has a wealth of experience in offshore development and support services and was credited with implementing the outsourcing of information technology at GE Global Exchange Services. Prior to joining Washington Gas, Mr. Frye was the Vice President of Information Technology for Global Exchange Services in Gaithersburg, Md.

A Washington metropolitan native, Mr. Frye received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and graduated with honors from The American University in Washington, D.C., with a Masters in Information Science.

Mr. Frye serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Dance Institute of Washington and on the Board of Trustees for Sandy Spring Museum. He resides in Maryland with his wife, two daughters and one son. He enjoys golf, surfing and reading.
