A letter requesting an abandonment of an existing service should be obtained from the owner of the property, and should be mailed or faxed to:

The letter should state the address, nearest intersecting street, and a contact person's name and phone number. Calls regarding abandonments should be directed to (703) 750-4501.
- How long does it take to get a gas service once I have made a formal request?
It takes approximately six to eight weeks to process request for single services. Service to a subdivision or commercial job, may take longer
- Who do I call to get an existing gas line relocated?
Contact your area sales representative and they will direct you to the appropriate department.
- How do I get a gas meter installed?
Once the outside gas line has been installed, and your inside lines have been inspected by your local code authority, it is your responsibility to call (703) 750-1000 for gas meter installation
- What is a load letter?
A letter requesting gas service at a specific address, that itemizes the gas appliances and their BTU ratings. Download a sample load letter
- Is gas available to my job site? If so, is there a charge?
Washington Gas will provide natural gas service to anyone in our entire franchise area. However, it is necessary to contact your area sales representative to determine the cost, if any.
